10-week Weaving Course

Suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced weavers. All are welcome. This course will cover:
Week 1: Introduction to equipment, terminology, and materials. Demonstration, instruction, and practice of plain/tabby technique
Week 2: Demonstration on how to warp a weaving frame. Individual instruction on warping a frame. Each participant will have their own frame warped up.
Week 3: Individual instruction on techniques of making a straight selvedge. Demonstration on how to change colours using the tabby technique. Individual facilitation on how to change colours.
Week 4: Demonstration on how to make blocks of different colours. Individual facilitation on how to make different blocks of colours
Week 5: Instruction and practice of changing colour, making blocks of colour.
Week 6: Demonstration and practice the technique of making a circle.
Week 7: Demonstration, instruction, and practice of blending using the hatching and dovetailing techniques.
Week 8: Demonstration, Instruction, and facilitation on how to design for tapestry weaving.
Week 9: Facilitate each participant to design, warp frame and begin their own piece of art. Instruction on further techniques such as Rya, Sumack, etc as relevant.
Week 10: Continue demonstration, instruction, and facilitation of each participant’s woven tapestry
